KARACHI: A new initiative to promote local industry and cottage enterprises was launched with the inauguration of Faisal Fabrics and Faisal Garments, marking a step toward strengthening small-scale businesses and encouraging economic self-reliance.
Speaking at the ceremony, Reja Saleem, Chief Financial Officer of Air Karachi, highlighted the importance of promoting local industries, noting that such ventures generate employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity.
She praised the private sector’s role in establishing cottage industries, describing it as a meaningful contribution toward sustainable economic development and long-term stability.
On the occasion, Asma Aamir, Vice President of the Handicrafts Association of Pakistan, said that encouraging local handicrafts and the textile sector is essential for strengthening domestic production. She reiterated the association’s commitment to supporting initiatives that empower skilled artisans and help locally manufactured products gain recognition in competitive markets.
The event was attended by individuals from various walks of life, including association members Qurrat-ul-Ain and Shumaila Khan, who appreciated the initiative as a positive step toward promoting small industries.
During the ceremony, Faisal Fabrics and Faisal Garments were formally launched along with a cottage industry project aimed at supporting home-based enterprises and empowering local artisans.
The event concluded with an Iftar and dinner where guests engaged in informal discussions and appreciated the hosts’ efforts to promote local entrepreneurship in Karachi.
