IG Prisons Inspects Jail Facilities, Interacts with Inmates

  KARACHI: In view of recent security concerns during Ramadan, Inspector General Sindh Prisons and Corrections Service Fida Mastoi conducted a detailed review of security arrangements at District Jail Malir.

The visit was attended by DIG Prisons Sindh Karachi Region Muhammad Aslam Malik and Superintendent of Police Malir Abdul Khaliq Pirzada, who briefed the Inspector General on the findings of the security audit and the measures implemented to strengthen safety protocols.

During the inspection, the Inspector General reviewed security points established around the jail premises and residential colony, and examined the ongoing construction work of the outer boundary wall aimed at further enhancing protection.

He also visited the jail kitchen and barracks, interacting directly with inmates to assess the quality of food and availability of facilities. The IG emphasised the importance of maintaining strict security standards while ensuring the welfare and basic rights of prisoners.

Officials stated that such inspections are part of routine efforts to maintain law and order within correctional institutions across Sindh, particularly during sensitive periods such as Ramadan.
