Karachi: The Karachi Biennale Trust (KBT) hosted the curtain raiser for Karachi Biennale 2027 (KB27) along with the exhibition titled “Aaj aur Kal: Performance, Installation & New Media.” The event marked an important milestone celebrating ten years of KBT’s efforts in promoting contemporary public art in Karachi.
The evening highlighted the collective dedication of the Karachi Biennale Trust team, trustees, artists, and collaborators who worked for months to organize the curtain raiser and exhibition. The organizers acknowledged that the milestone celebration was the result of teamwork and commitment from individuals working behind the scenes to sustain spaces for contemporary art in the city.
Special appreciation was extended to the student volunteers from Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS) whose enthusiasm and support played a key role in ensuring the smooth execution of the event. Their willingness to assist throughout the evening reflected the growing involvement of young creatives in Karachi’s cultural and artistic landscape.
The event also recognized the contributions of photographers Waleed Ali and JY Photography for documenting the occasion.
The organizers announced that the Fifth Karachi Biennale (KB27) will take place from 16 to 31 January 2027 and will be curated by Noor Ahmed. The upcoming biennale is expected to bring together artists, curators, and art enthusiasts from Pakistan and around the world, continuing the mission of strengthening Karachi’s contemporary art scene.
