Muhammad Nihal Hashmi Takes Oath as 35th Governor of Sindh

 Karachi: Senator Muhammad Nihal Hashmi took oath as the 35th Governor of Sindh at a simple yet dignified ceremony held at the Governor House in Karachi.

The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, Zafar Ahmed Rajput. The ceremony was attended by Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister of Sindh, members of the provincial and national assemblies, the Inspector General of Sindh Police, senior government officials, and prominent personalities from various walks of life. The proceedings were presided over by Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Haider Shah.

Following the ceremony, dignitaries congratulated Nihal Hashmi on assuming the office and extended their best wishes for his tenure.

After taking the oath, the new governor visited Mazar-e-Quaid, where he laid a wreath at the mausoleum of the Father of the Nation, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and offered Fateha. He also recorded his impressions in the visitors’ book.

He was accompanied by Bashir Memon, President of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Sindh, Minister of State for Sports Khel Das Kohistani, and other party leaders.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Nihal Hashmi paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, stating that Pakistan came into existence due to his visionary leadership. He also expressed gratitude to Nawaz Sharif for entrusting a humble party worker with such a significant responsibility.

The governor said that his party has a clear vision for the development of Sindh and emphasized the need for collective efforts to address the province’s challenges. He also noted that he had spoken with former Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori on the phone.

Highlighting youth development, Nihal Hashmi said that the scope of the laptop scheme under the Prime Minister Youth Program will be expanded to enable more students to benefit from it.

Later, the governor held his first Iftar with orphaned children at Edhi Homes, describing the experience as a source of great happiness. He emphasized the importance of promoting love, compassion, and social harmony in society.

He also praised philanthropist Faisal Edhi, calling him one of the sincere personalities serving the country.

The governor assured that the federal government will accelerate ongoing development projects in Sindh and pledged to play an active role in improving the city and the province.

During the day, Nihal Hashmi also visited the graves of his parents at Shah Faisal Colony graveyard, where he offered Fateha and paid tribute to their memory.
