Sindh Governor and Chinese Consul General hold important meeting, agree on promoting CPEC projects and investment

  Karachi: Muhammad Nihal Hashmi, Governor Sindh, and Yang Yundong, Consul General of China, held an important meeting at the Governor House Karachi, in which detailed discussions were held on promoting Pak-China relations and increasing cooperation in various sectors.

During the meeting, it was agreed on new development projects, infrastructure improvement and promotion of investment in Sindh under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Both leaders stressed the need to further expand mutual cooperation to promote Pakistan’s blue economy.

The Sindh Governor and the Chinese Consul General also agreed on increasing the Pak-China Youth Exchange Program and educational scholarships, while emphasis was placed on increasing cooperation in the mining and minerals sector and accelerating joint initiatives in the education sector.

On this occasion, Sindh Governor Muhammad Nihal Hashmi said that the use of modern technology from China is indispensable for agricultural development and stabilization of the rural economy. He said that under the Prime Minister Youth Program, youth are being trained in various fields.

He also announced the holding of a high-level conference at the Governor House to promote Pak-China joint investment and said that the friendship between Pakistan and China is tested and exemplary.

Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong said that the volume of China’s blue economy has reached one trillion Chinese currency, while Pakistan is a close, reliable and long-standing partner of China. He said that a seminar was also organized at the Chinese Consulate to create awareness about educational scholarships, which was attended by vice-chancellors, faculty and students of 30 Pakistani universities.

He further said that Karachi and Shanghai are sister cities, while Sindh and Hubei are sister provinces, and the commitment to further strengthen the ties between them was reiterated.

At the end of the meeting, the Chinese Consul General also formally invited the Governor Sindh to visit Shanghai.
