Experts Call for Diplomacy and Peace at KCFR Seminar in Karachi

Karachi: The Karachi Council on Foreign Relations (KCFR) on Tuesday organized a seminar titled “The Conflict in the Middle East,” bringing together diplomats, scholars, and strategic experts to deliberate on the evolving regional situation and its implications for Pakistan.

Participants examined the shifting dynamics in the Middle East and explored possible avenues for de-escalation, with a strong focus on achieving sustainable peace in the region.

Among the prominent speakers were former ambassador Zamir Akram, Patron-in-Chief KCFR Ikram Sehgal, Chairperson Nadira Panjwani, and Senior Vice Chairperson Huma Baqai.

Speakers underscored the urgent need for restraint and constructive dialogue, emphasizing that in times of heightened tensions, responsible diplomacy remains essential for maintaining regional stability.

They also highlighted the severe human cost of ongoing conflicts, noting that civilians are often the most affected. The discussion stressed the importance of protecting human lives and intensifying efforts aimed at peacebuilding.

Pakistan’s longstanding stance on peaceful coexistence was reaffirmed, with participants noting that the country has consistently advocated for regional harmony through dialogue and cooperation.

The session concluded with a shared commitment to continued engagement and support for initiatives aimed at reducing tensions and fostering long-term peace.

Founded in 2003, KCFR is a leading think tank dedicated to advancing Pakistan’s national interests through dialogue and engagement with the international diplomatic community.
