Karachi: Under the directives of IGP Sindh Javed Alam Odho, the Security Division, supervised by DIG Security Dr. Maqsood Ahmed, has established a dedicated Crowd Management Unit (CMU) to ensure public safety and strengthen law and order in urban areas.
The initiative aims to provide a swift, professional response to riots, large public gatherings, and emergency situations. The specialized unit consists of 700 highly trained and well-equipped personnel, drawn from various wings of the Security Division.
Integrated Units Include:
- Special Security Unit (SSU)
- Security-I
- Security-II
- Court Police
- Madadgar-15
- Foreigners Security Cell
By integrating these units, the CMU will ensure a coordinated, disciplined, and effective approach to handling large-scale events, potential disturbances, and riot situations.
The primary mandate of the unit includes the protection of citizens, safeguarding of public and private property, and the prevention of civil disorder through advanced tactical preparedness.
Addressing the personnel, DIG Security Dr. Maqsood Ahmed emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and rapid response in maintaining peace. He stated that the establishment of this Anti-Riot Force reflects the Security Division’s strong commitment to proactively address emerging security challenges and ensure the safety of citizens at all times.
